Adani Group's ₹2,000 Crore Skill Development Initiative: What to Expect

Explore how Adani is shaping India’s workforce with world-class education

The Adani Group has announced a significant investment of over ₹2,000 crore to establish the Adani Global Skills Academy, aiming to bolster India’s workforce in alignment with the nation’s “Make in India” initiative. This endeavor seeks to create a robust pipeline of industry-ready professionals across various sectors.

Partnership with ITE Education Services (ITEES) of Singapore

To ensure the highest standards in vocational training, the Adani Group has partnered with ITE Education Services (ITEES), a renowned institution in technical education based in Singapore. ITEES will serve as the knowledge partner, contributing its expertise in curriculum development, training methodologies, and quality assurance. This collaboration aims to deliver a world-class learning experience, integrating advanced infrastructure and immersive technical content.

Establishment of the World’s Largest Finishing School in Mundra

As part of this initiative, the Adani Group plans to establish the world’s largest finishing school in Mundra, Gujarat. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to train over 25,000 learners annually, focusing on sectors such as green energy, manufacturing, high-tech industries, project excellence, and industrial design. The finishing school will offer an immersive learning environment, featuring innovation centers and AI-based simulators combined with mixed reality-based learning. The facility will be fully residential, accommodating both students and faculty to foster a comprehensive educational experience.

Curriculum and Training Approach

The Adani Global Skills Academy will select students from technical and vocational education backgrounds, including graduates from Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and polytechnics. These students will undergo intensive bootcamp-style training programs tailored to their chosen fields. Upon certification, graduates will be equipped to be “first-day, first-hour industry ready,” meeting global standards of excellence. Employment opportunities will be provided within the Adani Group and other industries, depending on the trainees’ roles and areas of expertise.

Alignment with National Initiatives

This skill development initiative aligns with India’s broader goals of enhancing employability and supporting the “Make in India” movement. By focusing on sectors critical to the country’s economic growth, the program aims to reduce the skill gap and generate employment opportunities. The emphasis on advanced technologies and industry-specific training reflects a commitment to preparing a workforce capable of meeting the demands of modern industries.

Broader Educational Investments by the Adani Group

The ₹2,000 crore investment in the Adani Global Skills Academy is part of a larger commitment by the Adani family towards education, healthcare, and skill development. Previously, the Adani Foundation donated ₹100 crores to the Young India Skills University in Hyderabad, established under a public-private partnership model to generate employment opportunities and reduce the skill gap. Additionally, the Adani Group has announced plans to invest over ₹6,000 crores to build two integrated health campuses, Adani Health Cities, in Ahmedabad and Mumbai, further contributing to the nation’s development in critical sectors.

Future Prospects

The establishment of the Adani Global Skills Academy represents a significant step towards creating a skilled workforce in India. By leveraging international expertise and focusing on industry-relevant training, the initiative is poised to make a substantial impact on the nation’s employment landscape. As the program develops, it is expected to serve as a model for future skill development initiatives, contributing to India’s economic growth and global competitiveness.
